Cold Coffee at Home! How is it done?

Today, I would like to share with you a coffee recipe that we have been experimenting with at home for years and has gained popularity in cafes over the past few years. This recipe offers a delightful taste, especially for coffee lovers during the summer months. You can easily try this recipe at home and enjoy the refreshing flavors.

During the coffee brewing process, there are a few key points to keep in mind. Firstly, I recommend using a glass pitcher or bottle for brewing. Brewing coffee in glass enhances its flavor and aroma. Now, let's begin the brewing process.

Carefully pour water into the glass pitcher or bottle chosen for coffee brewing. It is important to use high-quality drinking water, as it will greatly impact the taste and quality of your coffee.

We determine the measurement of our coffee based on a ratio we have been using for years. Currently, with the ratio I am using, we obtain 6 cups of coffee in the pitcher. However, you can adjust the strength of your coffee according to your taste preferences. Since our coffee tends to be strong, we use a one-to-one ratio, which means one teaspoon of coffee per cup. Remember, you can also adjust the amount of water you pour over the coffee grounds based on your taste preferences.

As the coffee brews, it naturally filters downwards, releasing its flavor. If you have used 6 cups of water, you can adjust the brewing steps to 4, 5, or 6 cups. I usually take a slight half-step approach. This way, we achieve a perfectly balanced coffee brewing process.

In the initial stage, add water to the pitcher and sprinkle the coffee grounds on top. As mentioned before, you can adjust the amount of coffee based on your taste preferences. Then, gently close the lid.

Now, we need to let the coffee steep in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. It is important to place the pitcher in the refrigerator's section with the deepest chilling, where you store fruits and vegetables. Allowing the coffee to steep for a minimum of 24 hours will complete the brewing process.

Once the brewing process is complete, we move on to the straining stage. We will use a filter coffee machine for this step. However, if you don't have a filter coffee machine at home, there are alternative methods to strain your coffee. First, take a filter paper and prepare it as you would for a regular filter coffee machine.

Next, pour the cold coffee from the refrigerator onto the filter paper. Pay attention to the weight of the coffee as excessive weight may cause the coffee machine to topple. Gradually and slowly pour the coffee to ensure a smooth straining process.

Now, let's focus on the area where we will perform the straining process. As you can see, I have poured more than half of the coffee into the filter compartment and closed it. At this stage, we do not run the coffee machine since we are straining cold brew coffee. Once you have placed it in the designated area, position the coffee pot underneath.

As you can observe, the coffee is now being strained and flows through, leaving behind any sediments. After the coffee is free from sediments, you can transfer it back to a glass bottle and store it in the refrigerator. You can take it out and enjoy at any time.

When storing your coffee, it is essential to use a glass pitcher or any other glass container. This ensures the best preservation. Brewing your coffee in glass and allowing it to steep in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours will result in a more aromatic and flavorful cold brew. Although this recipe is easily achievable at home, it is actually the same brewing method used professionally.

If you don't have a filter coffee machine at home, you can use alternative methods to strain your coffee, such as using a plastic bottle, water bottle, or cola bottle with a piece of filter paper placed inside. You can cut the top part of the bottle and invert it for straining. There are various methods available for straining your coffee.

In conclusion, I hope you enjoy trying this cold brew coffee recipe at home. It offers a refreshing and flavorful coffee experience, especially during the summer months. By following the simple steps, you can create a delightful cold brew coffee right in your own kitchen. Cheers to a great cup of coffee!
